Danny Amundson of Sioux Falls and Michael Martin of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Brookings, survived a seven-hole playoff on Monday to reach match play in the fourth annual U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta, Fla.
Amundson and Martin fired rounds of 72-66 in qualifying to get into a 7-for-6 spots playoff. Amundson and Martin parred the seventh hole to advance to match play in the weather-plagued event.
Later in the day, Amundson and Martin fell 3 and 2 to the top-seeded team of Bobby Bucey and Brett Viboch.
