Player Bio

Larry Gunia began his lifelong commitment to golf as a 10 year old caddie in 1960 in his home town of Omaha, NE. He began his professional career at the Field Club of Omaha under Max Crouch in 1970. In 1980, Larry moved to Sioux Falls to be the Assistant Professional to Hall of Fame member Terry Crouch. Larry spent the rest of his career at Willow Run GC starting in 2002, with previous owner Dr. Richard Tschetter, and current owner Tom P. Walsh Sr., CEO of GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness in 2012. Larry is a Life Member of the PGA and won the 2006 Facility Promoter of the Year from the Minnesota PGA. Larry’s commitment to volunteer service is legendary. His passion includes teaching junior programs and he is especially proud of his service teaching golf to fellow veterans through the Veterans Eagle Turf Program. Larry retired in 2019 with 60 years golf service.
