Dean Shortridge became the 25th person to be inducted into the SDGA Hall of Fame. Dean came from a family of golfers, and three of his four brothers became PGA club professionals. He started his career in golf as a caddie at Midland Hills Country Club in St. Paul, Minn. He moved on to become an assistant professional at Hillcrest Country Club in St. Paul and then an assistant club professional at Rochester Country Club in Rochester, Minn. Dean then came to South Dakota, where he remained a part of the Aberdeen Country Club until 1971. In 1949, he became the Head Professional of the Aberdeen Country Club. Prairiewood (which is now known as Moccasin Creek Country Club) opened in 1971 and Dean became the first Head Professional and worked there until he retired in 1986. He became an honorary Life Member of the Club in 1985. Dean is also a Life Member of the PGA of America.
