Bob Masson became the 35th person to be inducted into the SDGA Hall of Fame. Through the junior golf program at Brookings Country Club, Bob had an influence on 35 winners of SDGA Championships, state titles in North Dakota and Montana and 11 South Dakota high school individual championships, along with 13 titles won by Brookings high school golf teams. He owned and operated Parline Golf in Brookings with his wife, Ceci. His golf shop was recognized twice by Golf Digest magazine as one of the “Top 100 Golf Shops in America.” Through Parline Golf, Masson helped form the KELO-TV/Parline Junior Golf Tour, a series of junior golf tournaments held each summer throughout South Dakota. This tour became the foundation for what is now the SDGA Junior Golf Tour. Masson’s influence on the game of golf wasn’t limited to just Brookings golfers. He conducted clinics at many 9-hole courses in South Dakota that did not have a golf professional. He fostered relationships through these clinics as many of the participants eventually became students, taking individual lessons from Masson in Brookings or at their home course.
